YUN X LAB, F/W21 COLLECTION

Having dreamt up and designed YUN’s first flagship store in Seoul, Labotory design studio turned their hand to glasses for this very special, collaboration. Applying many of the same fundamental design principles that they do in their architectural and space design work, Labotory worked with YUN to reimagine minimalism and constructivism on a much smaller scale. This shift in perspective allowed both brands to solidify the overall concept and campaign theme: Ways Of Seeing. The meaning of this concept, ‘ways of seeing’, is explored by the Labotory duo and three other artists.

WIDEN YOUR VISION

To pay homage to the very motto that we champion, we invited creators and artists with a similar texture to Labotory to explore different ‘Ways Of Seeing’. Along with the Labotory founders Park Ki-min and Jeong Jin-ho, an acrylic object artist Jang Hye-kyung, a writer Kim Min-joon and an illustrator Jo Hyeong-seop explore what it means to ‘see’ as a creator and investigate the many ‘points of views’ of an artist.

Writer Kim Min-joon

Kim is a writer of novels and prose. “When I read a book of poetry by chance, I decided to quit playing and become a writer. I recall the poet's words which were that writing is about revealing what is inside of you. Since what is inside of us is in part created by our eyes, writing is a lot about seeing and taking in what is around you.”

Acrylic object artist Jang Hye-Kyung

Pict Studio is an independent design studio based in Seoul, created and ran by Hye-Kyung. “Based on craft elements, we create modern objects and furniture through an experimental process. We see things with the eyes of curiosity and experiment and create new combinations.”

Illustrator Jo Hyeong-seop

Hyeong-seop’s work has a distinctively strong personality and wit. The appearance of many familiar objects in daily life is also a factor that makes his paintings feel so comforting “Is it not a kind of magic that seeing brings new life to objects reborn and observed on paper?”
