The DNA of YUN Journal, what is at the core of our hearts and souls, is YUN minimalism – it is timeless, a continuing and everlasting aesthetics, it cherishes space and emptiness as a boundless potential for creativity. It symbolizes sincerity, enthusiasm for creativeness and the importance of balance.

When I learned about this meaning of minimalism and balance I instantly thought of pairs – words and ideas that contradict each other, or as we rather say, balance each other out. In sum, with YUN Journal, we create a world that taps into different fields of interest, and in the create one balanced whole. We challenge you to think in new directions, disrupt routines, to try out new paths, yet still, cherishing traditions, beloved rituals, and constants that make life richer. We invite you to widen your vision.

Our ambition is to explore the aesthetics of keeping the balance in life, both physically and spiritually, to live healthy, minimal, creative and authentic. YUN Journal strives to give gentle guidance – with recommendations for travel, places to explore in Berlin and abroad, food on a plate and food for thought. Culturally we will guide you through galleries, art spaces, movies, songs and books, and take you from the opera house to former war bunker to places best enjoyed in silence.

Most of our audiences, like us, are based in Berlin, so our goal is to discover gems from the capital for you, but still looking further afield. As the roots of YUN lie in Korea, we embrace this cultural heritage and will feature topics and places from Seoul and Korea too, discovered for you by Hyejin, a creative mind, interior designer and our editor based in the Korean Capital. YUN Journal is the work of a small, dedicated editorial team for a discerning audience, a beautiful and meaningful, we hope, bundle of thoughts, words, and images that we prepare for you, our readers. With articles being released regularly on YUN Journal, it’s always worth checking in. In our bi-weekly newsletter, we will sum up our highlights, include some extra content we consider worth sharing plus inform you about upcoming releases or specials.

As I write to you, my mind is running wild with thoughts and ideas about the future of YUN Journal. I am really happy and proud to have been a part of it from the beginning, and see it growing with each day. But first, it’s over to you. What do you think of YUN Journal? What do you like, and what do you feel is missing? Let me know, and we’ll see what we can deliver.

Sincerely,
Anika Paulus
