FILLING BERLIN’S HEART WITH MUSIC

Almost no other street represents Berlin Mitte as vividly as Torstraße: People roaming the paths, small stores, restaurants and coffee shops lined up along the lengthy boulevard, the yellow tram gliding through on a warm summer night. For a weekend in June this long stretch will get even more busy: The annual Torstraßenfestival is here!

What started as a small afternoon musical program has been growing into a decent music festival that takes over the Torstraßen-area for several days. Blending different Berliner music scenes with international highlights, the festival celebrates scenic diversity, neighborhood, and music.

Already in its 8th edition, this year’s TSF “Forever” is presenting contemporary pop music, mostly from Berlin, that does not shun Utopia, embracing the now and the future, against yesterday and regression. It’s not a hype but an open question to the unknown, directed towards the festival, the music, and the audience.

Saturday June 9th marks the the main festival day with more than 35 concerts in 9 locations in Berlin-Mitte: A sneak preview of new DENA Album, electronic rap from Catnapp and performances from avant-garde musician Lucrecia Dalt and DIY romantic Sean Nicholas Savage – just to name a few – before all gather at the official after show party over two floors at art house ACUD.

On Sunday the festival moves into the impressive Volksbühne building with an independent Label Market, DJ sets and talks before the acts by Lido Pemienta, Berlin’s best italo-pop duo Itaca and charming pop star Alex Cameron light up the stage for the grand finale: Super Sunday.
