After two years of distancing and restrictions, we wanted to embrace exactly the opposite with themes of social bonding, connection and above all, dancing. With this collection, we wanted to celebrate the joy of dancing, music and being immersed in the disco and the dancefloor.
For disco is more than the product of heavy commercialisation for which it’s often associated- it was a significant cultural and musical movement that provided many of the foundations for contemporary dance music culture that so many of us (especially in Berlin) enjoy today. The freedom of expression, belonging and community that exist on the dance floor, the unity of a crowd and their power over the musical direction…much of this we have disco to thank for.
The past two years have been difficult for people who met their identities and selves on the dance floor and for those whose jobs and joys relied on the industry. We want to celebrate what it means to dance together again- at the disco.
